Daliangshan, Sichuan, June 26-28,2017 四川大凉山, 2017年6月26-28日

Daliangshan is a geographic location that includes many areas in southern Sichuan Province, China. The place we visited is Zhaojue County, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, is in the southwest of this region,

Due to the complex and steep terrain, Daliangshan has restricted access to the outside world, and historically always is in poverty. Despite the nine-year compulsory education mandated by the government, many children cannot go to school due to financial hardship. This summer, we participated in supporting education activities sponsored by several charitable organizations, doing our part to help schoolchildren receive and complete basic education.

We flew to Chendu, the capital of Sichuan province first, then rented bus going to the destination.

I was a little surprised to see such high quality of the road from Chengdu to the Daliangshan border. Clearly, the government has done a good job of improving communication between underdeveloped regions and the outside world. The scenery along the way is really beautiful. Only the last moments of driving on the rough, unpaved roads reminded us that we had reached the poorest countryside in China.

In Zhaojue County, we visited several schools, including an elementary school, two high schools and a vocational middle school. We met a lot of Yi students who are young, lovely, energetic and eager to learn. I see them as if I saw myself 30 years ago. I purposely shot photos of the students and the local people because that’s the main reason we’re here. I tried to record as many meaningful moments as I could.

When we came back, I passed the Jinsha River and stayed for one night at the Xichuan Hotel, the best hotel in Xichang, the capital of Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture. There is a beautiful lake next to the hotel. It happened to be raining that day, and walking by the lake was like being in the southern china.

大凉山是包括中国四川省南部许多地区在内的地理位置。 我们参观的地方是凉山彝族自治州昭觉县，位于该地区的西南部。

大凉山因地势复杂陡峭限制了外界的出入，历史上一直处于贫困之中。 尽管政府提供了 9 年的义务教育，但仍有许多孩子因贫困而无法上学。 这个夏天，我们参加了几个慈善组织的山区支教活动，尽我们的一份力，帮助学童接受和完成基础·教育。

我们先飞到四川省省会成都，然后租了大巴前往目的地。

看到成都到大凉山区边界的公路质量如此之高，我感到有点意外。 显然，政府在改善欠发达地区与外界的连接方面做得很好。 沿途的风景真是太美了。 只是当我们在崎岖不平的未铺砌道路上行驶的最后一刻，这才提醒我们我们到达了中国最贫穷的乡村。

在昭觉县，我们参观了几所学校，包括一所小学、两所高中和一所职业中学。 我们见到了很多彝族学生， 他们年轻，可爱，精力充沛，渴望学习。 我看到他们就像我见到了30年前的自己。我有目的地拍摄人像，因为这是我们来到这里的主要原因。 我尽可能地多记录一些有意义的片刻。

回来的时候路过金沙江，在凉山彝族自治州首府西昌市最好的酒店西川酒店住了一晚。 酒店旁边有一个美丽的湖。 那天正好下雨， 漫步在湖边， 恍若是在江南。
